Lot 2552 RUGER 17 ACKLEY HORNET No. 3 FALLING BLOCK
CARBINE. Cal. 17 Ackley Hornet. S# 132-11463. Bbl. 22" matte stainless with 11 degree crown and marked 'WESSINGER CUSTOM" in addition to caliber marking. George C. Wessinger of Chapin, SC was a top gunsmith known for handgun work and engraving of the highest order; he died in 2006. Mfg. 1981 (1973-1986) having factory walnut stock set with Celcon buttplate and added detachable sling swivel bases. Fitted with Weaver scope bases in the usual No. 3 position having inexpensive 1" alloy scope rings holding Weaver steel tubed V12 (4 to 12 power) adjustable objective scope. Scope has standard crosswire reticle with additional horizontal hold over wire of lesser size (unknown if by Weaver or custom added). CONDITION: very good overall appearance with some light staining on barrel, handling marks on stock set, missing forend barrel band, extremely faint marks on receiver plus a small spot of oxidation on scope eyepiece.
